1. Payment Terms & Release Policy
The Owner agrees to the following payment structure for services at Dunbow Country Kennels:
- Stays Less Than Two Weeks: The Owner must pay the required balance in full, up front at the time of check-in.
- Stays Longer Than Two Weeks: The Owner must provide a deposit of 50% of the total estimated cost at the time of check-in.
- Final Balance: The Owner must pay any remaining balance—including grooming charges, emergency veterinary fees, or other additional costs—in full before the Facility releases the dog(s) to the Owner or authorized agent.
2. Detailed Risk Disclosure
The Owner understands that certain risks are inherent in a communal boarding and play setting:
- Physical Injury: Risks include, but are not limited to, scratches, puncture wounds, bite marks, torn ligaments (such as CCL tears), broken nails, and sore paw pads.
- Communicable Diseases: Despite vaccination requirements, the Owner acknowledges the risk of transmitting viruses and bacteria, including Canine Cough (Bordetella), Canine Influenza, Parvovirus, and Leptospirosis.
- Stress-Related Issues: Boarding can lead to digestive upset (diarrhea), decreased appetite, or weight loss.
3. Personal Items (Bedding & Toys)
Dunbow Country Kennels assumes no responsibility for any bedding, blankets, toys, or other personal items the Owner provides. Therefore, the Owner acknowledges these items might suffer damage or loss, and agrees that the Facility will not provide reimbursement or replacement.
4. Shared Kennel Authorization
If the Owner requests to house their pets together in the same kennel, the Facility reserves the right to separate the pets for their safety if signs of aggression or stress occur. Consequently, additional boarding fees for separate kennels will apply.
5. Medication & Health
- Medication: The Facility will administer Owner-provided, labeled medications at no extra cost.
- Vaccinations: Current Rabies, DA2PP, and Bordetella are MANDATORY.
- Emergency Authorization: If we cannot reach the Owner, the Owner authorizes the Facility to seek veterinary care at the Owner’s expense.
6. Photo and Video Release
We collect your permissions—granting or denying the Facility the right to take and post photos/videos of the Pet(s) to social media (Facebook) or the website for updates and marketing—during the registration process.
7. Abandonment & Liability Waiver
- Abandonment: Ultimately, per the Alberta Animal Protection Act, the Facility considers any animal abandoned if the Owner fails to claim them within 7 days of the scheduled departure without contact.
- Waiver: The Owner releases Dunbow Country Kennels, its owners, and staff from all liability for injury, illness, or death of the Pet, except in cases of proven gross negligence.
